My name is Kasey and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I earned my graduate degree from the University of Denver and while there I completed clinical internships with Kaiser Permanente and The University of Colorado School of Medicine. I spent many years seeing patients for addiction and trauma before becoming a faculty member at The School of Medicine. While at CU, I began to focus on treating OCD, OCPD, and perfectionism in high achieving professionals. While at CU I also trained psychiatry residents and masters level clinicians in exposure and response prevention (ERP) techniques, how to accurately diagnose and treat OCD, and how to treat OCD in conjunction with additional diagnoses.

I have extensive experience treating substance use disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. I work hard to understand clients’ unique situations and move between models of therapy that emphasize behavior change as well as models that focus on understanding the root of our challenges. I enjoy using exposure and response prevention, internal family systems, and psychodynamic-based theories.

Individual Therapy

Most of my practice focuses on individual therapy for adults. Research suggests that the quality of the relationship between a therapist and client is one of the most important factors in determining the success of treatment. A good therapeutic relationship has three essential qualities:

  • Trust, caring, and respect: An emotional bond

  • Agreement on goals: The patient and therapist agree on the goals of therapy

  • Collaboration: The patient and therapist work together on treatment tasks

I am a huge advocate for finding a therapist who you feel understood and supported by as well as one who will respectfully challenge you to help you break unhelpful patterns in your life. Please book a consultation if you are interested in the possibility of working together.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is an amazing way to connect with others as we navigate challenging aspects of life. I currently provide an OCD/ERP group as well as a prenatal/post partum group. Please reach out for additional information.

Supervision

Are you an unlicensed social worker looking for a supervisor? Are you interested in being able to use multiple (and seemingly conflicting) therapy modalities to help clients with their anxiety? We may be a good fit. Please reach out if you are interested in receiving supervision toward your licensure.
